She can belt one out!

Dear Jason,

How's basketball going? I sure miss playing on the team, but I'm glad you're getting to start this year. It's too bad some of the guys decided to go Parks & Rec so they could have more games. Hopefully next year the gym will be rebuilt and they'll come back making the team better than ever.

Remember I told you I've been helping build sets for the school musical? Well, you oughta hear this girl sing!
PictureThat's Ashanti in the middle. I don't know why she has a book since she knew all the words.
She can stand in the middle of the stage and belt a song to the back row without a microphone. And get this: her name is Ashanti, you know like the famous singer? Can you beat that?

Here's the weird thing. When I met her at the first of the year, she was a hot mess, as they say around here. If you tried to say a word to her or even help her with something, she'd fly off the handle.

Some of the kids said Ashanti couldn't read a lick and could barely do math. That's why she acted so crazy, to cover it up. But our music teacher, Ms. Lacy is amazing. Somehow she figured out about Ashanti not reading, and helped her learn all her lines and songs using CDs and what they call "rehearsal tracks". Is that cool or what?

I'm learning there's lots of people like Ashanti and Ms. Lacy. You don't really know much about them until you scratch the surface a little. I'm real proud for Ashanti.

Right now, my stomach is telling me it's time to raid the frige before I pass out or something. Tell the guys on the team I said, "Hey!" and "Thanks for sticking with the team!"

Check you later!
Jubel

Hi, my name is Jubilee, but my friends usually call me Jubel. Mom thought it would help me get used to our new town by writing my best friend, Jason. Thanks for hanging out with us.
